Eight companies evince interest in coal mining in Angul

The Orissa Government has received proposals from eight companies interested in undertaking coal mining in Angul district.

The state government has issued terms and conditions for mining operation in favour of four companies. They are Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL), Monnet Ispat and Energy, Utkal Coal and Kalinga Mines.

Meanwhile, the proposals of four others are under process. They are NALCO, Tata Sponge Iron, Bhushan Steel and Mandakini Coal.

JSPL has signed an MoU with the state for establishment of a six million tpa steel plant. Similarly, Monnet Ispat has also inked MoU for setting up a 0.25 million tpa steel plant.
