The Planning Commission has accorded clearance to the Rs 300-crore Rukura medium irrigation project in Sundergarh district of Orissa, to be implemented under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme.
About 5,700 ha of farm land is to be irrigated by the project. The land acquisition work is underway and the project is slated to be completed by 2014
According to sources, the tender work for the project and the construction of the model colony are in progress. Simultaneously, the rehabilitation and resettlement work is in advanced stages of completion.
