Jharsuguda Airport to be inaugurated on 22 September

The newly built airport at Jharsuguda is likely to be inaugurated on 22 September 2018 by Prime Minster Mr Narendra Modi. On the same day the PM will also inaugurate a new railway line of the Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) and lay the foundation stone for the renovation of a fertiliser plant during his visit to Odisha.

Prime Minister Modi will arrive at the newly built second airport at Jharsuguda in a special aircraft from New Delhi on the day and dedicate the airport to the nation. The newly built airport is spread across over an area of 909.22 acres and entailed investment of Rs 175 crore (of which Rs 50 crore is state’s contribution).

The PM will also dedicate a new railway line of the Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) between Jharsuguda and Sardega in Sundargarh district and two new coal mines in Sundargarh. The new railway line has been constructed with investment of Rs 1,044 crore and will likely to evacuate 100 million tonnes of coal from Basundhara area of Hemgir block under MCL.

The PM will also lay the foundation stone for the renovation of the Talcher fertiliser plant.
